Nice Promenade des Anglais chaises bleues

The blue metal chairs lining the Promenade des Anglais occupy a space designed for leisure since nineteen twenty-one. Originally, these chairs were wooden and anchored to the ground. In the nineteen fifties, architect Charles Tordo redesigned them with curved frames and a distinctive azure paint to match the Mediterranean sky. While tourists now flock to them for photos, the local municipal workers still drag them across the pebbled beach each morning, arranging them to face the horizon exactly as they have for decades.
