Mémorial Torrin et Grassi

other

The Mémorial Torrin et Grassi consists of two tall, slender columns of white stone standing at the intersection of Avenue Albert Premier and Rue du Congrès. These pillars honor Joseph Torrin and Ignace Grassi, two members of the French Resistance who were executed by German forces on this spot in nineteen forty-four. Their deaths occurred just days before the liberation of Nice. A plaque embedded between the stones holds their names, marking the final moments of a struggle played out on city streets.
