Sénat de Nice

The Sénat de Nice features a facade of pale, weathered stone accented by heavy, forest-green shutters. Built in the seventeenth century, this structure served as the seat of the Senate of Nice, the highest judicial and administrative authority under the House of Savoy. It functioned as the local parliament, settling legal disputes and registering royal edicts. In seventeen ninety-two, French revolutionary troops occupied the building, effectively ending the old judicial order and turning the space into an administrative office for the new regime.
