Bellanda Tower

The Bellanda Tower sits atop the Colline du Chateau, identifiable by its circular, crenelated stone structure that stands stark against the sky. It marks the site where the massive citadel of Nice once guarded the coastline until King Louis the Fourteenth ordered its total destruction in seventeen oh six. Hector Berlioz found inspiration for his music while wandering these ruins. Today, the tower houses a small naval museum, though it remains primarily defined by the centuries of stones reclaimed from the demolished fortress.
