Cours Saleya

The Cours Saleya is a long, rectangular market square defined by the pale yellow facades and striped green shutters of the tall townhouses lining its edges. Since the eighteenth century, this space served as the primary produce market for Nice, drawing farmers from the surrounding hills to sell their harvests. In nineteen oh nine, a local merchant decided to introduce cut flowers alongside the crates of zucchini and artichokes. The blossoms were so popular that they permanently transformed the square into a famous floral centerpiece.
