Rue Pairolière

Rue Pairolière is a narrow, shadowed vein cut deep into the fabric of Old Nice, defined by the tall, ochre-colored houses that press toward the center of the street. In the seventeenth century, this was the city’s primary workshop for potters and boilermakers. The name comes from the word pairol, a copper pot. Tradesmen hammered metal here while charcoal smoke filled the air. Today, the street remains cramped, still carrying the echo of that intense, industrial clatter from four hundred years ago.
