Maison Auer

The Maison Auer features a dark, intricate woodwork facade that stands out against the brighter storefronts along the street. This shop began in eighteen twenty as a refined confectionery where Henri Auer crafted candied fruits and chocolates for the elite of Nice. During the nineteenth century, the Russian nobility wintering in the city relied on these specific sweets to sweeten their stays. The original copper kettles used for boiling the fruit sugar still sit inside the back room today.
