Cours Xavier Arnozan

The Cours Xavier Arnozan holds a wide, straight path lined with tall, pale stone buildings featuring wrought iron balconies. Wealthy merchants built these mansions during the eighteenth century to display their success in the wine trade. Xavier Arnozan, a renowned doctor who served the city for decades, eventually gave his name to the street. In eighteen ninety-five, the poet Leo Drouyn lived in one of these houses, often writing while watching the merchant ships pass by on the nearby Garonne River.
