Halle des Chartrons

The Halle des Chartrons is a long, low structure featuring a distinctive iron and glass roof that spans the entire width of its stone base. Built in eighteen sixty-nine to serve as a covered market, it once housed merchants selling local produce and goods to the neighborhood. During the twentieth century, the building fell into neglect and narrowly avoided demolition. It remains a rare surviving example of iron architecture in Bordeaux, now functioning as a cultural space for community gatherings and local exhibitions.
