The Musée du Vin et du Négoce occupies a stone townhouse built for a merchant named François Faure in seventeen twenty. Its facade features the sober, balanced lines typical of the city's eighteenth-century trading houses. Bordeaux merchants once used these vaulted cellars to store wine barrels before shipping them across the Atlantic. In the nineteen fifties, a local firm used the space to stock their own inventory, keeping the building’s original purpose alive until the museum opened its doors decades later.
