Passage Sarget is a narrow, covered gallery tucked between the Cours de l'Intendance and the Place de la Comédie. It features a distinct iron and glass canopy, a design intended to shield shoppers from the rain while they walked between the city's main luxury boutiques in the mid nineteenth century. In eighteen eighty-three, it became the home of the first cinematograph demonstration in Bordeaux. Louis Lumière himself arrived to project his early moving images against a white sheet for a curious public.
