landmark

The Arbre aux oiseaux is a trompe l'oeil mural painted onto the blind side of a residential building. It covers the facade with an intricate forest scene where dozens of birds hide among the branches. This wall was once a plain, gray slab of concrete overlooking Square Baudin. In nineteen ninety-seven, the city commissioned the Cité de la Création, a collective of muralists from Lyon, to transform the space into a permanent habitat for birds that reflect the history of the island.
