A long, narrow strip of wild greenery cuts through Malakoff, following the ghost of an old railway line. It is the Coulée Verte, a green path designed to reclaim space from the industrial machinery that once defined this corridor. Where freight trains hauling heavy goods once rumbled between Paris and the suburbs, residents now walk and cycle among hedges and wildflowers. The tracks are gone, replaced by a paved trail that keeps the curve of the original iron path deep into the neighborhood.
