The Square des États-Unis features a central stone monument bearing a carved eagle and the names of American soldiers who died in the area during the second world war. This small park sits on the site of a former gatehouse that once controlled entry into Montrouge. In nineteen forty-six, the town officials renamed the space to honor the American contribution to the liberation of France, embedding the local history of the liberation into the daily transit of residents walking through the square.
