The Fontaine du Pont de Neuilly rises as a tall, ornate stone column topped by an eagle. Designed by architect Damesme and sculptor Duret in eighteen twenty-five, it originally marked the entrance to Neuilly at the end of the stone bridge over the Seine. Napoleon commissioned the monument to honor his victory at the Battle of Wagram. It stood near the river for over a century before city planning moved it to its present spot in the Plaine des Sablons.
