Passerelle Debilly

The Passerelle Debilly is a slender steel footbridge with a distinctive lattice framework that spans the Seine. It was built for the nineteen hundred Exposition Universelle to handle the massive crowds traveling between the Trocadero and the Champ de Mars. When the fair ended, authorities planned to tear the bridge down immediately. Instead, it was relocated twice within Paris before officials eventually decided to leave it exactly where it stands today, serving as a permanent pedestrian crossing between the two riverbanks.
