The European Jewish Center is defined by its facade of light-colored, perforated limestone, which creates a sharp geometric contrast against the surrounding nineteenth-century Parisian apartment buildings. Completed in twenty-nineteen, the center functions as a hub for the local community, housing a synagogue, a museum, and offices. The project took shape after Joel Mergui, the president of the Consistoire de Paris, lobbied for a space that offered high-level security while remaining an open, inviting anchor for Jewish life in the city.
