The church of Sainte-Odile is marked by its unusually tall, slender bell tower that reaches one hundred and seventy-four feet into the sky. Built between nineteen thirty-five and nineteen forty-six, it occupies a site where the architect Jacques Barge utilized reinforced concrete to create a striking fusion of Byzantine and Art Deco styles. The interior features massive mosaics designed by Robert Lesbounit that cover nearly three thousand square feet, depicting scenes from the life of Saint Odile and the history of Alsace.
