Square Ernest-Gouin (ex- Boulay-Level)

Square Ernest-Gouin holds a massive, bronze statue of a man standing in a long coat, his hand resting on a drafting table. This small green space honors Ernest Gouin, an engineer who built the massive bridges and railway structures that fueled Paris in the nineteenth century. Gouin owned a nearby factory that employed thousands of people. After he died, the city installed this monument to commemorate the man whose iron works physically connected the city to the rest of Europe.
