Porte d'Aubervilliers de Paris

historic

The Porte d'Aubervilliers marks the site where the Thiers Wall once guarded Paris. This gate served as a military control point, one of many perimeter fortifications built in the eighteen forties to enclose the city. While the stone barriers fell long ago, this location retains its function as a primary threshold between the capital and the northern suburbs. A large, functional bridge now carries traffic over the tracks that radiate from the Gare de l'Est, maintaining this historic connection across the tracks.
