Danish House in Paris

The Danish House, or Maison du Danemark, sits on the corner of the Champs-Élysées with a facade of distinct, light-colored stone and expansive glass windows. Designed by architect Paul Guadet and finished in nineteen fifty-five, it replaced an older mansion on the site to serve as a cultural outpost for Denmark. Inside, a restaurant and exhibition spaces host events, but the building’s most unusual feature is its diplomatic origins, born from a post-war desire to project Danish modernism directly into the heart of Paris.
