Place Đỗ Hữu Vị

park garden

The Place Do Huu Vi is a quiet triangular intersection in Auteuil marked by a simple stone stele. It honors a French colonial officer of Vietnamese origin who became one of the first fighter pilots in the French military. During the First World War, while serving as a captain, he died after his plane crashed during a test flight in nineteen sixteen. His brother, a doctor, campaigned for this space to bear his name, preserving a memory of his service in the French army.
