Place Claude-François

landmark

Place Claude-Francois features a distinctive bronze bust of the singer, fixed firmly at the center of this quiet Auteil square. Claude-Francois lived just steps away on boulevard Exelmans during the height of his fame in the seventies. After he died in an accident in nineteen seventy-eight, fans campaigned for years to honor the man who wrote the original French version of My Way. The city eventually named this small pocket of green after him, providing a permanent home for his likeness.
