Allée des Cygnes

The Allée des Cygnes is a narrow, tree-lined path that sits atop a man-made dike in the middle of the Seine. Built in eighteen seventy-eight to protect the port of Grenelle, this long, thin island stretches for nearly a kilometer between the Pont de Bir-Hakeim and the Pont de Grenelle. At its western tip stands a smaller bronze version of the Statue of Liberty, which looks toward the Atlantic Ocean, gifted to Paris by the American community in eighteen eighty-nine.
