September 1982 Paris car bombing

The corner of Rue Marbeuf and Rue Lincoln holds a plain gray building that looks like any other office block. In September nineteen eighty-two, a car packed with explosives sat right here. It detonated while people walked past on a busy afternoon, killing one woman and injuring sixty others. The blast shattered every window for blocks and left a crater in the pavement. A radical group claimed responsibility, targeting the premises of an Arab-language newspaper based in the building at the time.
