Square Paul Paray

park garden

Square Paul Paray sits behind an iron fence, marked by a bronze bust of the conductor Paul Paray set upon a stone pedestal. This small garden occupies the site of the former Collège Chaptal, a secondary school that operated here throughout the nineteenth century. When the school moved to a larger campus, the city claimed the land. Paray himself was a renowned musician who led the Orchestre Colonne for decades, and the park keeps his name as a tribute to his artistic contributions.
