Le Gerny's

A dark, unassuming doorway on the Rue Pierre Charron hides the space where Le Gerny’s once thrived as the cabaret of choice for the city’s high society in the nineteen twenties. It was here that a young girl named Édith Gassion, later known as Édith Piaf, stood on stage for the first time in nineteen thirty-five. The proprietor, Louis Leplée, plucked her from a street corner and gave her the nickname La Môme Piaf. She sang for him until his murder inside the club.
