The Averof building displays a long, neoclassical facade with a grand, multi-columned entrance that occupies the center of the Patission Street frontage. Built in the eighteen seventies, this structure serves as the historic home for the School of Architecture. When architects like Ernst Ziller designed these halls, they integrated strict, symmetrical forms meant to evoke the prestige of antiquity. It remains a training ground where students often work at drafting tables that have occupied these same high-ceilinged rooms for over a century.
