Tsinari tavern

The Tsinari tavern sits under a low, tiled roof in the heart of the Ano Poli neighborhood, marked by the weathered wood of its traditional facade and the stone fountain across the narrow street. It began as a neighborhood grocery store in the late nineteenth century, serving families who lived in the surrounding Ottoman-era houses. In the nineteen-nineties, the current owners converted the space into a tavern, keeping the original counter and the shelves where spices and grains once sat behind the glass.
