The Stoa Saul is marked by a deep, recessed archway finished in weathered stone and cream-colored plaster, tucked between the more modern storefronts along Vasilleos Irakleiou Street. It began as the grand commercial hub for Saul Modiano, one of the city's wealthiest Jewish merchants, in the late nineteenth century. Saul filled this space with warehouses and shops that traded in everything from raw textiles to colonial goods. He kept his own private office on the top floor, overseeing the frantic loading of crates below.
