Agora Modiano

The Modiano Market features a glass-covered roof that spans the entire central passage, keeping the long hall bright regardless of the weather outside. Eli Modiano designed the structure in nineteen twenty-two, intending it to serve as a central food hub for the city. He modeled the iron and glass architecture after similar covered markets in Paris and London. Local merchants still sell spices, cheeses, and fresh fish here, keeping the space focused on the city’s culinary trade as it was a century ago.
