Dunapark házak

The Dunapark houses stand out as two stark, white, stepped apartment blocks featuring rounded, ship-like balconies overlooking the Danube. Built in nineteen thirty-six, these structures brought Bauhaus functionalism to Budapest. Architects Béla Hofstätter and Ferenc Domány designed them to mimic a luxury ocean liner, complete with internal service elevators for groceries and laundry. Residents once held tea dances in the ground-floor cafe, while the buildings themselves signaled a shift toward clean lines and modern, rational living in a city of ornate stone.
