The House of Terror displays a black steel frame protruding from its roof, casting the word TERROR onto the sidewalk in large, jagged shadows. This building served as the headquarters for both the Arrow Cross Party and the communist secret police. People were held, interrogated, and killed in the basement cells here during the twentieth century. Mária Wittner, a nineteen-year-old girl, survived a death sentence handed down in this building after the nineteen fifty-six revolution before escaping into the night.
