Drechsler-palota

The Drechsler Palace is the yellow building on the corner of Andrassy Avenue with a roofline of sharp, copper-green gables and dormers. Designed by Odon Lechner and Gyula Partos in the late nineteenth century, it served as the home for the Royal Hungarian Ballet Institute for decades. Its most striking feature remains the eclectic facade, where ornate terracotta carvings blend Hungarian folk motifs with French Renaissance style. Dancers once practiced in the grand, high-ceilinged halls, often stopping to watch horse-drawn carriages pass below on the avenue.
