Festetics-palota

The Festetics Palace on Pollack Mihály Square carries a pale yellow facade decorated with white Corinthian columns. Count György Festetics commissioned this home in eighteen sixty-two, wanting a residence that matched his family’s influence as major patrons of the arts. During the later years of the nineteenth century, the ballroom inside hosted the most exclusive gatherings in Budapest. Today, the building houses the Andrássy University, with students studying international relations where aristocrats once spent their fortunes on elaborate winter balls.
