Gul Baba’s Tomb & Memorial Garden

The tomb of Gul Baba sits atop a steep hill, marked by a sharp, octagonal stone roof that stands out against the terraced garden slopes. Built between fifteen forty-one and fifteen forty-eight, this small octagonal mausoleum holds the remains of a Bektashi dervish who accompanied the Ottoman army into Buda. Legend says the poet-monk died during the victory prayer following the siege. His simple tomb became a place of pilgrimage for centuries, drawing visitors across shifting borders and changing empires.
