Shirazchap

The Shirazchap printing house sits behind a modest, weathered facade that blends into the surrounding masonry, distinguished primarily by the iron-wrought lettering above the entrance. Founded in the mid-twentieth century, it served as the primary press for local poets and scholars who could not afford the high costs of Tehran publishing. One printer famously stayed at his manual machine for three days straight to finish a forbidden poetry collection before the secret police arrived to inspect the shop’s evening logs.
