Da Gemma

The restaurant Da Gemma features a terrace that hangs directly over the Mediterranean, set into the cliffside of Amalfi. Salvatore Gemma opened the doors in eighteen seventy-two, intending to serve the local fishermen and merchants who worked the docks below. By the nineteen twenties, the kitchen had transitioned into a destination for travelers arriving by sea. The current owners keep a collection of old guest books that record signatures from long-departed visitors who sat on the same terrace decades ago.
