Saint Andrew's Fountain Amalfi

landmark

The Saint Andrew's Fountain features a marble sculpture of the town's patron saint standing atop a multi-tiered base, surrounded by jets of water that pour into a stone basin. Built in seventeen sixty, it occupies the center of the main square to honor the apostle who local fishermen claim saved them during a legendary storm. The statue remains the primary landmark for anyone arriving from the harbor, holding his cross high while the water flows continuously beneath his feet.
