Atomic Bomb Memorial Burial Mound

The Atomic Bomb Memorial Burial Mound is a low, circular concrete structure covered in grass, set apart from the manicured lawns of Peace Memorial Park. Beneath this mound rest the ashes of over seventy thousand people who perished in the August sixth, nineteen forty-five bombing. Many of these remains were never identified, collected from the ruins by survivors and citizens in the weeks following the blast. Thousands of families still bring flowers and incense here, seeking a connection to their lost kin.
