Hiroshima Castle

The Hiroshima Castle is a five-story black wood fortress rising from the flat grounds of Motomachi. Mori Terumoto began building it in fifteen eighty-nine, designing it as a seat of power that could control the river delta. During the final days of the second world war, the atomic bomb leveled the entire structure, leaving only the stone foundation behind. Workers completed the current concrete reconstruction in nineteen fifty-eight, housing a museum that focuses on the history of the castle itself.
