Bagtown Coffee sits behind a distinct, dark corrugated metal facade that stands out against the concrete surroundings of Fukuromachi. Inside this narrow space, the owner roasts beans in small batches, filling the shop with a heavy, sharp scent of coffee that often reaches the sidewalk. This shop occupies a lot where a residential home stood before the nineteen forty-five atomic bombing leveled the neighborhood. The current owner built this space to bring the craft of slow-roasted coffee to this specific street.
