Calle Aldama

Calle Aldama is a narrow, cobblestone street defined by high stone walls that hide lush, private courtyards from view. In the early nineteenth century, this was the residential choice for the town’s most influential families, who built homes with heavy wooden doors and iron balconies to match their status. When Ignacio Allende helped spark the war for independence, the royalists marched right through these stones. Today, the street remains a quiet corridor where the colonial past stays pressed against modern life.
