Teatro Angela Peralta

The Teatro Angela Peralta features a neoclassical facade of pink cantera stone, punctuated by two levels of arched windows and a heavy, carved wooden entrance. Built in eighteen seventy-three, it was named for a celebrated Mexican opera singer who died of yellow fever in Mazatlan before she could perform here. The local elite funded the project to host zarzuelas and grand concerts. Its intimate horseshoe balcony remains the best place to hear the natural acoustics that define this space.
