Fuente Escuadrón 201

landmark

The Fuente Escuadrón Dos Cero Uno features a central stone eagle clutching a snake, perched atop a tiered fountain. It commemorates the Aztec Eagle Squadron, the Mexican fighter pilots who flew alongside the United States in the Pacific theater during the second world war. Pilot Roberto Fierro Villalobos, a hero of that campaign, helped dedicate this memorial to the men who served in the Philippines. The water flows into a basin where locals still pause daily to escape the afternoon heat.
