Parque Benito Juárez

Parque Benito Juárez features a dense canopy of jacaranda and eucalyptus trees that shroud the paths in cool shade. This land was once part of the expansive gardens belonging to the old textile factory nearby. In the early twentieth century, the city transformed the overgrown property into a public park to commemorate the centenary of Mexican independence. Local families often gathered here when the fountain overflowed, and children would fish for crawfish in the irrigation channels that once crisscrossed the muddy, narrow footpaths.
