Fuente de Itzquinapan

The Fuente de Itzquinapan features a stone face carved directly into the fountain’s back wall, shaped like a howling dog. It sits at the corner of Recreo and Diez de Sollano, marking the spot where water once flowed from a mountain spring into the town. In the eighteenth century, residents gathered here to fill their clay jars. Legend says the sculptor modeled the dog after a local pet that faithfully waited for its owner at the spring long after he passed away.
