Lavaderos del Chorro

The Lavaderos del Chorro features a series of stone basins arranged in tiered rows along a steep hillside. These public laundry stations served the residents of San Miguel de Allende for generations, utilizing water from a natural spring that flows from the El Chorro canyon. In the middle of the twentieth century, local women gathered here daily to scrub clothes, trade gossip, and manage the communal wash. The site functioned as the city's social hub until modern plumbing moved laundry into private homes.
