The Templo del Oratorio de San Felipe Neri rises above the cobblestones with a distinctive, reddish-pink sandstone facade that seems to hold the light differently than its neighbors. Founded in seventeen twelve by the priest Luis Felipe Neri de Alfaro, the church grew from a small chapel meant for the local indigenous population. Father Alfaro oversaw the construction for decades, insisting on the ornate, exuberant stonework that defines the exterior, a stark contrast to the plain, functional buildings nearby.
