Templo de San Francisco

The Templo de San Francisco features a distinct, churrigueresque facade carved from pale pink sandstone, standing in stark contrast to the flatter, simpler colonial buildings nearby. Construction finished in seventeen ninety-nine, but the project spent decades stalled due to a lack of funds. Don Manuel Tomás de la Canal, a wealthy local count, donated the final sum needed to complete the work. His family crest remains etched in the stone above the entrance, serving as the mark of his investment.
